Establishing A Strong Will To Make A Change

The Origins of Yakhin Lodge #381

The Original Brothers of Yahkin Lodge #381 came from The Order of David Hebrew Grand Lodge. We were members of Order of David Hebrew Lodge #7 and Lodge #5, A.F. & A.M., A.A.S.R. We had set out to build a new Grand Lodge in the State of Illinois, and had been in contact with England, Washington, Springfield, Ill., New York and Philadelphia. We were also in the process of having our charter recognized by the governing Masonic Bodies. Just before this happened we met with the Grand Master of The Original St. Johns Grand Lodge and decided to become a part of the Grand Lodge instead of starting our own, making a total of four working Lodges under the names of Enoch Lodges.

A few years later, we noticed that the principles that we believed in and what we were trying to accomplish were slightly different from St. Johns Grand Lodge. In search of Brothers whose ideas were on one accord with ours, we found our new and present home with King Solomon Grand Lodge #168 M.F. & A.M. Here we have found brothers who like us, believe in spiritual uplift and support as well as helping those who are not as fortunate. The first Worshipful Master of Yahkin Lodge #381 was Carlos Payne who had a vision of what we could accomplish and set into place the cornerstone on that vision. He served as Worshipful Master for four years before stepping down and our current Worshipful Master Nathaniel Buck IV continues to uphold the vision and has stepped up to the challenge of making Yahkin Lodge #381 one of the most successful Lodges in Modern Free. One of his focuses is to bring the Lodge more in line with technology so expect to see some great things from our Lodge in the future. Yahkin is also very fortunate to have in their Lodge two other extremely knowledgeable Past Masters, IL. Michael Bridge (33rd) and IL. Abdi Ben Levi (33rd). These Brothers bring over 45 years of Masonic experience to the order. This is a brief history of Yahkin Lodge #381 and its origins.
